Entry / Condition Survey / Ship Risk Reviews

The entry/condition survey/ Ship risk reviews is to make an overall inspection for the general and structural condition of the vessel, together with the competence of the crew and their capabilities in managing safety and environmental issues.

HDUM employs in-house experienced surveyors who attend onboard vessels for the survey, at any location around the world. HDUM surveyors are Master Mariner or Marine Engineer officer (Class 1) with minimum 2 years sea experience in the rank and at least 2 years of proven experience in ship inspection and ISM auditing as a surveyor for Class/Flag state/Port state, or in vessel operations as a superintendent/DPA, have specific training in ISM/ISPS/MLC2006

Pre-Loading / Discharging Survey

At all times and under all circumstances the owner/operator of a vessel has the duty to act prudently and therefore has the responsibility to take whatever steps necessary, including organising pre-loading surveys to ensure that the bills of lading are correctly endorsed whenever appropriate. Pre-loading surveys can prevent huge claims to the Company or make it much easier to defend claims.

With well trained and qualified surveyors, HDUM have been conducting Pre-loading/ Discharging surveys on behalf of P&I club and ship owner/charterers at all ports of China, Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Korea and most of the South East Asia. HDUM surveyors with Master Mariner’s experience and knowledge, we provide professional and expert advice for Project cargo loading and discharging.

Container Survey

A lot of general cargoes is carried in the containers. Thus, companies that deal with containerized shipping are often interested in surveys of containers. We carry out damage surveys, condition surveys, repair surveys, and monitoring of all kinds of containers like Reefer container, General Purpose containers, Flat racks, Flexi tanks etc.
HDUM has experienced in-house surveyors who are Master Mariner, Deck Officers or Marine Engineer (Class 1) with sea experience on board container ships, who have rich experience and knowledge of container ship operations and functioning of all type of containers.

Marine Affairs Investigation Including Collision, Grounding, Oil Spill, Damage to Cargo/Ship Etc.

HDUM provide services related to all types of damage investigations and repair supervisions of Hull and Machinery. Our surveyors ranging from Master Mariners and Chief Engineers are well experienced in the assessment of collision, grounding, and engine damages, as well as those brought about through structural failure by fire.

HDUM has represented P&I Clubs, Ship owners & Charterers, Port Terminal and cargo consignee at all levels in such events for the investigation to assessment of damages. We have hands-on experience and knowledge in handling damage cargo disposal and oil spill cleaning.

Evaluation Of Repair Cost / Salvage Value

With in-house surveyors who are ex-shipyard managers and with close tie up with many shipyards, we are very experienced in providing the clients with assistance in ship repair, cost evaluation, evaluating salvage value etc.

Ultrasonic Hatch Testing

In order to check the hatch covers water tightness, an ultrasonic test involves placing a transmitter in the cargo space and measuring an ultrasonic signal received outside the space. HDUM provides client the company’s trained and certified surveyors with calibrated UT testing equipment, who can perform UT TEST for hatch covers in China, Vietnam and other required ports.

Project Cargo (Port Captain) Services

Project cargoes are cargo with very high value. HDUM has good experience in handling project cargo for clients. Our surveyors will assist in reviewing and approving load/discharge procedures, preloading/discharge inspection of project cargo, assist in proper lashing of project cargo on board for safe shipment.

Draft Survey And Draft Survey Dispute Resolution

The Draft Survey is a technique based on Archimedes’ principle to calculate the weight of cargo loaded or unloaded to or from a ship from measurements of changes in its displacement. HDUM conducts draft survey of ocean vessels and local barges on a regular basis, as required by our clients. We perform job on behalf of Owners, Charterers or any other interested party.

It is top of our priority list to give quality services by using our own calibrated equipment, we assure that the findings are as accurate as possible. We also assist as third party in case of draft survey disputes in finding resolution.
